Rickey Gene Pennington was born on January 4, 1949, in Duncan, Oklahoma to James “Teddy” and Betty (Gardner) Pennington. He passed away at his home in Duncan on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the age of 75.
A memorial service will be held at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
Rick was born in Duncan and spent the majority of his life in Duncan. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1967. Rick was a brick mason in Duncan area for over fifty years. Until his passing, he was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet.
While Rick spent most of his growing up and work life in the Duncan area, he spent weekends for the last 20+ years at his favorite place, Possum Kingdom Lake, in Graham, Texas. For those that knew Rick, they knew that in a boat on the lake was where he wanted to be. He could be found most weekends on his boat, cruising around the Hell’s Gate. He was given the nickname “Oklahoma” by those that he knew at PK. He always made sure that everyone heard him play The Beach Boy’s and Boomer Sooner before heading out. Rick never met a stranger. All of his neighbors and friends at Possum Kingdom became more like family to Rick.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brady Cole Lamberson.
Survivors include his children; Shane Pennington and his wife Therese of Aubrey, Texas and Kara Lamberson and her husband Ryan of Prosper, Texas, grandchildren; Faith and David Ruble, Ella Pennington, Nathan Pennington, Corban Pennington, and Avery Lamberson, brothers; Jimmy Pennington and sister-in-law Kala of Norman, Oklahoma, Steve Pennington and sister-in-law Debbie of La Quinta, California, and Hal Pennington and sister-in-law Ame of Owasso, Oklahoma.
